GE’s Nucleus communication and data storage device provides consumers with information about their household electricity consumption and costs. It brings the promise of the smart grid into consumers’ homes, empowering them to make more informed energy choices when used together with other components of GE’s Brillion energy management solution, including smart appliances, programmable thermostats and software applications.
As utilities deploy smart meters, Nucleus will collect and store household electricity use and cost data, and present it to consumers in simple, intuitive desktop computer and smart phone user applications. Software upgrades will further enable Nucleus to monitor water, natural gas and renewable energy sources, as well as plug-in electric vehicle charging.
