This online resource offers tips on energy  conservation through reduced energy consumption.

You can also see ways for reducing E-Waste:

  • Tips for Caring for Electronics
What's the number one way to manage the growing problem of e-waste? Extend the life of your electronics with proper care.

  • Repair or Replace?
Decide to fix your product first before exploring options for recycling.

  • Donate Your Old Electronics
Your outdated model could be a welcome resource for another. Help reduce the presence of electronics waste through reuse schemes.

Older products can be put to good use. Many charities, community programs and schools are in dire need of usable electronics. What is outmoded to you could be a welcome opportunity to another! Sell or donate your used electronics with these resources:

  • Goodwill partnered with Dell Computer to create RECONNECT, a comprehensive electronics recovery, reuse and environmentally responsible recycling opportunity for consumers in participating communities. RECONNECT offers FREE drop-off recycling and reuse options for unwanted electronics.

  • CollectiveGood collects used cell phones and donates refurbished phones to underprivileged communities in the Caribbean, Latin America, Eastern Europe and India. CollectiveGood recycles all donated non-functioning mobile phone batteries in an environmentally responsible manner through its relationship with the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation, and all unusable mobile phones are disposed of in accordance with all local and national environmental standards.

  • Inveneo, a non-profit social enterprise whose mission is to empower people in remote and underserved communities and the organizations who serve them through access to computing and communications will take old flash drives (otherwise known as USB Memory Sticks) and get them into the hands of students, aid workers and small business entrepreneurs in the developing world.

  • Close the Gap makes reused and refurbished computers available to underprivileged individuals in Africa and other developing countries.

  • Digital Links has distributed over 50,000 reused computers to the developing world and provided access to technology for over 125,000 individuals. Digital Links uses professional refurbishing companies who provide data erasure, testing, upgraded hardware and safe disposal of non reusable equipment.

  • World Computer Exchange helps to bridge the global digital divide for youth all over the world by expanding local capacity for the educational use and responsible disposal of computers.

  • Interconnection's mission is to make information technology accessible to underserved communities around the world.

Want to recycle your electronics? First ask yourself these questions: Can my product be reused or sold? Is it possible to repair my product? If you've answered "No," then recycling is your best bet.
